The AIAAA made history on March 1st when the 5A Sun Tan Region’s proposed amendment passed at the 2019 AIA Legislative Council. Here is the amendment and the rationale:
Amend AIA Bylaws: Article 9. Finance. Section 9.1 Dues and Fees – Full and Associate
Rationale for Proposed Amendment: In an effort to build and promote membership and professional development with the Arizona athletic directors / administrators, by adding the dues onto the AIA Membership Dues, the AIAAA and NIAAA will reach 100% of the athletic directors / administrators and be able to provide the critical opportunities and information to ensure they are able to do the best job for our member schools and every student athlete in Arizona.
9.1 DUES AND FEES – FULL AND ASSOCIATE 9.1.3.4 Dual State AIAAA/NIAAA current annual membership dues per athletic director/athletic administrator per school will be added to the AIA Membership Dues each year. Those funds will then be transferred via check to the AIAAA each September 30th of the current school year.
The AIAAA Board of Directors feels that this change will allow our entire state of athletic directors, both at the site level and the district level, to be able to take advantage of the outstanding professional development and growth opportunities both the AIAAA and the NIAAA have to offer. We are at a time across this country where we must start fighting for interscholastic athletics. In order to do this, we must be educated on the profession we have chosen and be able to justify its’ importance in the education of our students. This can be done through the NIAAA Leadership Training Institute courses, obtaining your NIAAA Certification and most importantly, attending our AIAAA State Conference each year and take advantage of professional development opportunities. Congratulations to you all for taking this giant step forward for the AIAAA.
Thank you for all you do for our coaches and our student-athletes!
